Teesside-based building facades specialist Topside Group has entered administration, resulting in the loss of over 30 jobs. With many high profile projects across the North East as part of its portfolio, the company had been trading since 1992.
Topside Group was involved in the construction of several prominent buildings, including The Curve at Teesside University, the Student Services facility at Newcastle University, and The Mint offices in Leeds. The firm was also the windows and doors subcontractor for Teesside University’s Central Science Labs project worth £35M. It has also undertaken window and curtain walling for Bowmer & Kirkland’s £90m Stepenson’s Building at Newcastle University.
In addition, Topside Group was awarded a significant sub-contract on the Six Centre Square project, part of the regeneration of Middlesbrough’s Centre Square. This is now home to insurance giant AXA.Last year, the company’s recruitment efforts were bolstered by the scheme and other projects in its portfolio.
In an unfortunate turn of events, the supplier to the construction industry was compelled to seek administration.. The appointed administrators stated that “the company has seen various problems similar to many others in the construction sector, and in the end administration became unavoidable with cashflow a real problem.”
All of the company’s trading activities have ceased. Barring a few, all employees have been made redundant. This administration news is a huge blow to the local construction industry. The after effects of the pandemic continue to impact the sector adversely. Supply chain disruptions, labour shortages, and rising costs are still quite prevalent.
In conclusion, the administration of Topside Group, though unfortunate, serves as a reminder of the challenges that companies in this industry grapple with. To get into contact with the appointed administrators, visit Administration List today!
