5,000 Holidaymakers Affected by Jetline’s Collapse into Administration

A long-established London-based travel agency has announced its decision to enter administration today. Jetline Travels, a well known budget travel operator ceased to trade as an ATOL-protected operator on 6 March. Administrators from Leonard Curtis were appointed before the end of March.

Jetline had been winding down for some time, and sources within the travel industry noted its substantial business in the US, warning that suppliers may face losses. The firm, which launched in 2000, operated under several brand names. These include Jetline Cruise, Bargain Late Holidays, Best Priced Holidays, Cruise and More, and Elegant Getaways.

The company had reported a turnover of £28.1 million and an operational profit of £655,000 in 2023. Despite its strong financial performance, a reported contract breach led to the cancellation of a number of cruise bookings with major operators. These contracts included Princess, Cunard, and Holland America. Approximately 5,000 customers across Britain, mostly with cruise bookings, have been affected after this administration.

Jetline Travel held around 800 forward bookings at the time of its collapse and had 20 customers overseas. Many of the affected bookings involved cruise-only or accommodation-only deals, which fall outside the ATOL protection scheme. The Civil Aviation Authority issued advice to affected travellers regarding claims and return flights. Many parts of trips including accommodations, cruises and experiences may not be valid anymore. In many cases, local services have not been paid for and may need to be rebooked and repaid by the customer.

Jetline Travel had operated across the UK for 25 years, and was responsible for hundreds of thousands of British holidays every year. The administration and collapse leaves its future uncertain, while posing significant disruption to customers, suppliers, and staff. The Advantage Travel Partnership, which had represented Jetline since 2015, acknowledged the loss and expressed support for those impacted.
